It all started a few years back with the idea of filming a documentary about the Islamic world community, where the people themselves could tell their stories about who they are and what makes them part of the Ummah. We also wanted to document and preserve old wisdom and knowledge. However, discrimination and oppression were frequent topics we encountered, which led to the creation of the Ummah Lawyers team as part of UP, who provide legal assistance in cases of discrimination and injustice. Our work includes individual cases as well as communal issues such as UN complaints against Macron’s closure of mosques and Islamic Human Rights organisations or the Dutch parliamentary commission to research foreign financial influence (POCOP), which solely targeted mosques and Islamic organisations.
For now, you can find us online. We organise meetings for case discussions, and interviews are arranged by appointment.
We comply with legal data storage terms and have a privacy regulation in place. We do not share personal details with third parties. If you have any questions or requests regarding your data, please contact us via this form.
The woman in red is unknown to us, but we chose her image as the face of our project because it represents the struggles and resilience of the Muslim Ummah. We took the picture in 2017 in Balu Kali Refugee camp in Bangladesh, where half a million refugees had just arrived from Myanmar, fleeing ethnic cleansing by Rakhine Nationalists. While we cannot speak to the woman's specific experiences, we see her as a symbol of tragedy, bravery, and beauty. Overall, we believe this image is a powerful representation of our foundation and what we stand for.
If you have experienced discrimination and need legal assistance, our process is simple:

Don't worry, in sha Allah. Ummah Lawyer takes your case without any charge. We are one Ummah, one community. We must take care of each other and stand up for everyone whose rights are violated, especially in cases of oppression and discrimination – these affect us all. We invite everyone to donate whatever they can afford. When the community contributes to the fund, we can handle cases of human rights violations free of charge for the victims. In this way, the community and we can alleviate the burden of expensive legal fees and share the load. If you are able to donate, please support our cause so that we can continue to help other victims of oppression and discrimination. And if you cannot donate, that's okay – share your experience with your network so that others can also support us.
Our goal is to release the film within the next two to three years. The timeframe may vary depending on the level of support we receive, which can help us speed up the production process.
We are here to reclaim the narrative of our own story and defend our rights!
